Your journey begins with a private transfer from your centrally located Edinburgh hotel to Waverley Station, where you'll board the iconic Royal Scotsman. In the afternoon, the train departs Edinburgh, travelling west through Falkirk, Clydebank, and Dumbarton, skirting the edge of Glasgow before reaching the northern banks of the River Clyde.
Settle into your elegant cabin and take in the dramatic Scottish landscapes unfolding outside your window as the train heads toward Spean Bridge, where it will stable for the night. As evening falls, enjoy a relaxed and refined informal dinner onboard. Afterward, gather in the Observation Car for live entertainment—featuring traditional musicians who fill the night with soulful Gaelic ballads and spirited Highland folk melodies.
This morning, the journey continues westward with panoramic views of Ben Nevis, the UK’s tallest peak. Disembark at Arisaig for a refreshing walk along the silver sands of Morar, where white beaches meet spectacular vistas of the Cuillin mountain range on the Isle of Skye.
Return to the train for lunch as it travels back to Fort William, crossing the world-famous Glenfinnan Viaduct—an iconic feat of engineering surrounded by dramatic scenery.
In the afternoon, choose between two enriching experiences: uncover the rich history of Glenfinnan with a local guide, or join mountain guides for an invigorating hike through Glen Nevis to the stunning Steall Waterfall. The day concludes with an informal dinner onboard, followed by lively Scottish music and entertainment in the Observation Car.
