Iquitos — Gateway to the Peruvian Amazon
Touch down in Iquitos — the largest city in the world unreachable by road and the beating heart of the Peruvian Amazon — where our crew will be waiting to welcome you at the airport with warm Amazonian hospitality. Enjoy a leisurely lunch at a celebrated local restaurant before transferring to the dock to board the magnificent Aqua Nera — widely regarded as the finest luxury expedition vessel on the Amazon and one of the greatest river cruise experiences on earth. Settle into your beautifully appointed suite as the jungle closes in around you, meet your expert naturalist guide team, and gather in the restaurant for the first of many extraordinary Amazonian dining experiences created by Peru's most celebrated Amazonian chef, Pedro Miguel Schiaffino.

Yanayacu Yacapana & Yarapa River — Into the Heart of the Jungle
Board the sleek expedition skiffs and set course from the Amazon River into the extraordinary Yanayacu Yacapana River system — a pristine and biodiverse waterway teeming with extraordinary wildlife at every turn. Ready your binoculars for close encounters with spectacular tropical songbirds, black-collared hawks, and three-toed sloths draped languidly in the jungle canopy above. Test your nerve with a thrilling piranha fishing session on the river, while your expert naturalist guides bring the extraordinary complexity of the Amazonian ecosystem vividly to life. As afternoon deepens into dusk, sail into the mysterious Yarapa River — a dark and atmospheric black water tributary of the Ucayali — for an unforgettable nocturnal wildlife excursion and a magical stargazing session beneath the impossibly clear Amazon sky.

Clavero Lake & Marañón River — Community, Wildlife & Wonder
Rise early for an extraordinary dawn excursion to the breathtaking Clavero Lake aboard the expedition skiffs, gliding through mirror-calm waters where traditional dugout canoes remain the primary mode of transport for the lake's indigenous communities — a way of life unchanged for centuries. Take the rare and privileged opportunity to swim in the lake's pristine waters or step ashore to visit local Amazonian residents who will welcome you into their community with extraordinary warmth and generosity. In the afternoon, explore the mighty Marañón River — one of the Amazon's most important and wildlife-rich tributaries — in search of river dolphins, caimans, and an extraordinary diversity of bird species. Return to Aqua Nera for an intimate crew dinner, meeting the remarkable team working behind the scenes to create your exceptional onboard experience.

Nauta Market, Manatee Rescue Center & Departure
Bring your extraordinary Amazon journey to a warm and memorable conclusion with a final morning guided visit to Nauta market — a vibrant and colorful celebration of the extraordinary regional produce of the Peruvian Amazon, where exotic fruits, jungle herbs, and fresh river fish fill the stalls in a riot of color and aroma. Sample exotic local snacks and discover ingredients that have sustained Amazonian communities for millennia. The adventurous may also visit a remarkable community beekeeper in the nearby village of San Francisco. Return to Aqua Nera for a final breakfast before disembarkation, and en route to the airport stop at the extraordinary Manatee Rescue Center — where orphaned Amazonian manatees are lovingly rehabilitated before being released back into the wild waters of the Amazon.
