Touch down at Marrakech Menara Airport where your private English-speaking guide and driver will be waiting to transfer you in comfort to your riad in the heart of the medina. Checking into a traditional riad — a private courtyard house with fountain, mosaic tilework and carved cedarwood — is itself an immersion into eight centuries of Moorish design and hospitality. This evening, make your way to Jemaa el-Fnaa as the sun sets over the Koutoubia Mosque — the square transforms at dusk into one of the world's great spectacles, with musicians, storytellers, food stalls and the warm chaos of Moroccan street life. Moorish Marrakech — Palaces, Mosques & the Art of Spice

A full day with your private guide exploring the architectural and cultural treasures of Marrakech. Begin at the Bahia Palace — its name means The Brilliant — with its extraordinary sequence of courtyards, painted ceilings and zellij tile floors. Continue to the haunting ruins of El Badi Palace, once encrusted with gold and marble, and the Ben Youssef Madrasa, whose intricately carved stucco and cedar mirrors the finest buildings of Andalucía. The Koutoubia Mosque — the prototype for Seville's Giralda Tower — anchors the afternoon before a Moroccan cooking class in your riad brings the day to a fragrant and flavourful close, exploring the Moorish spices — saffron, cumin, preserved lemon — that define this extraordinary cuisine. North to Fez — The Living Medieval City

After a leisurely breakfast, your private driver transfers you north towards Fez — Morocco's oldest imperial city and the most complete surviving medieval Islamic city anywhere on earth. The journey takes around six to seven hours through the Middle Atlas, with stops in the cedar forests where Barbary macaques roam freely and the alpine town of Ifrane provides an extraordinary Swiss-style contrast to the ancient medinas on either side. Arrive in Fez in the late afternoon and check in to your riad near the iconic Bab Boujloud gate — the Blue Gate — the main entrance to the old medina. Dinner and overnight at your riad.

The Ancient Heart of Fez — Madrasas, Tanners & Living History

A full day with your private guide dedicated entirely to Fez el-Bali — the UNESCO-listed medieval medina that has barely changed in a thousand years. Visit the Bou Inania Madrasa, whose zellij tilework and carved cedarwood represent the pinnacle of Moroccan Moorish craftsmanship, and the Andalusian Quarter, settled by refugees from Al-Andalus who brought with them the music, architecture and food traditions of Islamic Spain. Stand before Al-Quaraouiyine University — founded by Fatima al-Fihri in 859 AD and the oldest continuously operating university in the world. Chefchaouen — The Blue Pearl of the Rif Mountains

After breakfast, your private driver heads north-west into the Rif Mountains to one of the most visually extraordinary places in all of Morocco — Chefchaouen, the Blue City. Every wall, doorway, staircase and alleyway in this compact and enchanting medina is painted in shades of indigo, cobalt and sky blue, creating a dreamlike atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Africa. Settled by Muslim and Jewish refugees from Andalucía in the 15th century, the city carries a deeply Moorish character in its architecture, craft traditions and unhurried pace of life. After breakfast, your private driver heads north to Tangier — the legendary city perched above the point where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean and Africa faces Europe across just 14 kilometres of water. Arrive in time for a guided afternoon tour, beginning at the Kasbah Museum of Mediterranean Cultures — which tells the shared story of the Andalusian-Maghrebi world with extraordinary depth and clarity. Stroll through the old medina, whose cafés and alleyways were once frequented by Andalusian exiles, writers and artists from across the world. Crossing to Europe — Tangier to Seville

After breakfast, your private driver takes you to begin the crossing from Morocco to Europe. The most atmospheric option — and the one we recommend — is the ferry from Tangier to Tarifa, a one-hour crossing across the Strait of Gibraltar that is genuinely one of the great short journeys in travel. Watch Africa recede behind you and Europe grow larger on the horizon as the Atlantic and Mediterranean meet beneath the bow. Alternatively, for those who prefer to fly, there are direct flights from Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport to Seville taking approximately 50 minutes with Ryanair and Vueling. Either way, your private driver will be waiting on arrival to transfer you north to Seville — the magnificent capital of Andalucía where the Moorish legacy of Al-Andalus is felt most powerfully. A second full day in Córdoba allows the city to reveal its deeper layers. The morning is dedicated to Medina Azahara — the extraordinary 10th-century palatial city built by Caliph Abd al-Rahman III on the slopes of the Sierra Morena, one of the great archaeological discoveries of the 20th century, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a place of haunting, windswept beauty. The afternoon returns to the historic centre for a deeper exploration of the Judería — the ancient Jewish quarter — including the 14th-century synagogue, one of only three surviving medieval synagogues in Spain, the Palacio de Viana with its twelve legendary patios, and the flower-filled Calleja de las Flores. After breakfast, your private driver heads south-west through the rolling olive groves and white villages of Andalucía to Ronda — one of the most dramatically situated cities in all of Spain, perched on a sheer clifftop above the extraordinary El Tajo gorge, a 120-metre vertical drop carved by the Guadalevín river over millennia. Your private guide explores the old town — the Mondragón Palace, the ancient Arab Baths, the oldest bullring in Spain and the legendary Puente Nuevo bridge with its vertiginous views to the gorge floor below.
