Sandra's Guest House

Everything about this guesthouse was amazing. Cleanliness,location,good breakfast and most importantly a walk to the beach with awesome views. Sandra's guest house comes highly recommended 👌

Unfortunately, it wasn't as positive an experience as I had expected based on the pictures and reviews. Luckily, I only stayed here for one night because otherwise the return trip to Cape Town would have been too late and was strongly discouraged. The pictures were definitely edited... it hasn't looked like this for a long time – it's definitely showing its age and is a bit dingy and unkempt. Long black hairs were stuck to the tiles in the bathroom (I'm blonde) – that's not acceptable. It's also quite noisy, making it impossible to sleep in, as you're woken up at half past seven at the latest by kitchen noises echoing throughout the house. The breakfast was okay, but unimaginative (according to other guests, it was the same every day).

This guesthouse is situated in such a beautiful spot and is a stones throw from the lagoon. The main room 'Oyster' has the most stunning deck which offers a direct view of the sun set and was offered as upgrade for a very justifiable price, which I accepted for my mother. Quite the treat. The bed linens were crisp and great quality and the mini bar offerings were all encompassing and well priced. Sandra provided vegan/ethical options for my breakfast, which was very kind, although I was only given one sausage which I feel was a bit stingy! There is ample parking outside the property and we could also see our car, which made it feel very safe. One thing I would like to add is that I feel that the standard rooms could do with an upgrade as they looked tired and dated, for the price. And I feel like it would have been nice to have been greeted by the owner, who stayed at the property. Especially as there was a slight language barrier with a member of staff, too, which made things a little uncomfortable and frustrating, at times. The online checking in system also didn't work and I had to do some chasing before our arrival, which could also have been avoided. But all in all, a lovely stay which will be kept in fond memory.

What an awesome experience at Sandra's Guesthouse. We arrived at the Guesthouse with no high expectations. What an amazing surprise to walk into a 3 star place that need to be a 5 star place. I've been to many Guesthouses in my lifetime this is without a doubt one of the best
